Home Ownership -
The American Dream
Information for Buyers
One of the greatest freedoms in our country is the right
to buy, own, and sell real property. Home ownership is the
American dream, but because it is usually the largest investment
a family makes, it can be frightening. That's where we come
in. 100% of the agents at Senter Realtors have been trained
to be Accredited Buyer Representatives. As a Buyer's Representative,
your Senter agent will help guide you through the process
of buying to make that dream a reality. Whether you are
a first-time buyer or a corporate transferee, the HOME TEAM
at Senter, REALTORS can offer you Buyer Representation to
make sure your interests are protected and ease the stress
of relocation. Here are some things that you can do to help
us to help you:
1. BE HONEST WITH THE REALTOR.
Don't be afraid to tell the agent the features that you
like or don't like about the properties you are shown. Also,
be up front about your credit and finances.
2. DON'T WORK WITH MULTIPLE AGENTS.
Find one agent that you like and be loyal to him or her.
Your Senter agent has access to the widest market possible
and you need the total commitment of one person who knows
and understands your situation.
3. ALL PARTIES WHO WILL BE INVOLVED IN THE DECISION
MAKING PROCESS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL SHOWINGS AND
MEETINGS.
It is very ineffective for an agent to show someone homes
and then have someone else who has not seen what is
on the market give an opinion. While this may seem to save
time, it actually doubles the amount of work, time, and
frustration.
4. DON'T DICTATE THE PROCESS.
Another way to say this would be, "trust the agent".
Local customs may vary and laws vary from state to state.
It is best to allow the agent to guide you through the buying
process.
5. THERE IS NO PERFECT HOME.
Instead of looking for the perfect home, look for the best
home on the market in your price range. If you search for
the perfect home, you will never buy.
6. DON'T BE AFRAID TO OFFER A FAIR PRICE.
It is not unusual for homes in our market to sell for list
price - sometimes higher. If you find the one you want,
offer what it will take to buy it - if you don't, someone
else will.
7. DON'T BE OVERLY CONCERNED OVER MINOR DETAILS.
Buyers should realize that every home has things that may
need to be changed to meet individual tastes. Also, items
such as utility costs may vary by occupants. Differences
in square footage may be overcome by layout.
8. BE AWARE OF BUYER'S REMORSE.
It is normal to second guess your decision once an offer
is signed. Buyers often get cold feet due to the perceived
size of the investment. Know that you have made a rational
decision and that home ownership is one of the best investments
you can make.
